Booster Pumps are used in conjunction with water storage tanks in irrigation systems when ground water is used as the water source for your irrigation system. Using ground water and/or harvesting rain water to run your irrigation system provides an extremely cost effective return on your investment. Mirrigation SA provides a highly qualified and expert service to suit all your Booster Pumps installations and servicing.
Water storage tanks are used when the water available from the ground water source is not sufficient to run your irrigation system directly. Rain water from the roof can also supplement the water supply. Booster Pumps are then used to feed your irrigation system with the water from the storage tanks.
Booster Pumps may be submersibles, installed inside the tanks, or be centrifugal Booster Pumps installed right next to the tanks to supply the irrigation system.
Booster Pumps may be controlled by your irrigation controller, a water flow switch or by a pressure switch connected to a suitably sized pressure vessel or pressure tank. The size and delivery of your Booster Pumps will be determined by the size of your garden and irrigation system.
Booster Pumps must always have the correct pump control protection installed for running dry, as well as for running against a closed head. Booster Pumps may run dry when the water storage capacity is drained before an irrigation cycle is complete. A liquid level control switch must be installed to switch off the Booster Pumps when the water level in the storage tank drops to the lowest operating level. This will prevent a run dry situation. A running against a closed head situation may occur when your irrigation controller fails to open a valve, due to a break in wiring to the valve, or valve coil failure. The pump controller must provide protection for running against a closed head.
Your irrigation system will be designed according to the amount of water available and the pump requirements will then be determined exclusively to each installation.
