When the yield of the ground source, be it a well, a borehole or a spring is too low to supply your irrigation system directly, Water Storage Tanks have to be used. The supply is then drawn from the ground and subsequently pumped into the Water Storage Tanks where it is accumulated for the next irrigation cycle. The size of the hold is determined by the yield of your supply and by the size of your irrigation system.
A liquid level control switch must be installed inside the Water Storage Tanks to start and stop the submersible pump filling the hold. This control switch will switch off the pump when the Water Storage Tanks are filled to capacity and restart the pump when the level starts dropping again.
Submersible pumps, especially when installed in low yield underground sources, filling Water Storage Tanks, must be fitted with electrical control systems for protection against the pump running dry. When the ground source is tapped beyond its yield and the pump runs dry, the pump control must stop the pump. This will then activate a time delay protection circuit to allow the source to recover its capacity, before the pump is started again automatically.
Supply is then fed to your irrigation system by means of a centrifugal booster pump, or a submersible booster pump installed inside the holding area.
The installation of the holding vessel is thus customized, according to the size of the irrigation system and delivery of the water source at each site as required. Water Storage Tanks may also be installed below ground level where their location will not influence the pleasing aesthetics of your garden.
